As e get older, we still wish. We wish for love, for success, for good health; for so many things. In the Disney version, Jiminy had such a smiling and positive message that still holds for me personally. But again, as we age, the 'sure thing' of wishing is...altered. Our expectations and hopes are not always rewarded. But still we wish, hoping at times for things that our efforts alone can not provide. This is an 'adult version' of this tune. The harmony starts fairly simple, and evolves to make things more...difficult. Like life. I've slowed the tempo and tried to create space to let us think and draw the listener in deeply. And at the end, with a nod to Gershwin, we end with a positive conclusion, a beautiful and ...logical 'thank you and farewell' for this 2 cd project.
