Influenced by hearing Mike Stern with Michael Brecker years ago, HASSLE has a bit of a story behind it. Imagine standing in Times Square here in NYC just at the moment, on a Friday, in Summer, when all the offices close for the day and the street is FLOODED by thousands and thousands of people trying to GET OUT! Add those numbers of aggressive Noo Yawkas to the throngs of tourists, the traffic and noise and just walking one block becomes a...HASSLE. I asked Mark and Phil to lay down a funky thing here - but asked for a NOLA kind of groove. Great playing by all...I especially love the solos and Matthew's killer electric piano playing!
